ABOUT PROVOCATIONS: How we think about curriculum

Admissions Policy

The Morningside School considers all children and families equally for admissions, regardless of race, nationality, ethnicity, family structure, gender identity or social and economic background.  Additionally, we also seek to admit families that are in harmony with the philosophy of the school. We consider how each child might benefit from our school, as well as what each child and parent can contribute to the school community.

Admissions Process

The first step in our Admissions Process is to come to our Open House, usually held in October or early November.  Following this, families will be asked to come for a solitary visit during the school day in order to see the school in action and to meet with Sadie to discuss questions and expectations.  Children should come on this visit as well.

After these visits, we will call each family for whom we have a spot available, and families will have two weeks to decide about accepting the spot.

Admissions Timeline

We accept applications year round.  We host an Open House in October of each year.  Families interested in the following year should attend the Open House and complete an application. We will then contact families for the follow up visit.  These visits happen November-January.

We ask our current families to re-enroll by early January, and then we will have a clear idea of how many spaces are open.  We will offer spots to new families beginning in February. Once offered a spot, we ask that families give us a decision within two weeks.  In order to hold their spot, families will submit payment of the first month’s tuition, which will be held until the beginning of the school year.  If a family, returning or new, vacates their spot after June 1st, they forfeit the deposit of the first month’s tuition..

Enrollment forms will be due by the first day of school.

Days & Hours

The school is open five days a week, Monday-Friday from 8:30 am -12:30pm. We value the continuity of several days per week of attendance. It is important for our project and inquiry based work as well as for the development of community and friendships. For these reasons, we prefer children attend 5 days/week.

Group Size and Age

Our group size is 12 children with two teachers.  Teacher-student ratios are intentionally kept low in order to allow close relationships to form and to ensure that each child is observed, understood and met where they are in their learning. The teachers strive to tailor each child's learning to their individual needs and feel a smaller group size allows for this. The group consists of 3-5 year old children. In order to ensure the level of responsiveness we strive for, we accept children who turn 3 by Sept. 1st.

Tuition

Tuition is due on the 1st of each month from September through May (summer camps run during June, July and August)

Tuition for the 2023-2024 school year:will be $825/month
